Thrice the artistic fervour

The show has some stunning captures of nature through different perspectives.

“One can have no smaller or greater mastery than mastery of oneself.”
— Leonardo Da Vinci

Runa Biswas’ recent show at Art Houz did create quite an impact. The show titled Life in 14 ml is an apt tribute to the various hues of one’s life. Runa has used colours from small 14 ml tubes, hence the title. Through her oeuvre, the artist tried to connect to the simple truths in life, as it unfolds with its innocence and beauty. Each of the 24 works she exhibited highlights the concept. It is about people in the mundane in different age groups who have been reflecting about their realities. Technically, it can be from the mundane and about the mundane. Runa explains, “14 ml is the capacity of the colour tubes that I, we all use, but what comes out of that small package goes on to create some of the biggest artistic achievements. When I look back at life, it was not the big things that gave me happiness but the smaller ones. Small acts of courage, the rains pitter-pattering on the tin roof, a fleeting scene of a rainbow. Of ordinary people doing extraordinary things, like an old blind tailor sewing clothes to make two ends meet.”

Keeping in line with world photography day, a group of wonderful artists and photographers will be displaying their captures on the 25th at Navratan Antiques and Art. Titled Perceptions, Sachin, Khyati Solanki, former IFS Lokeshwar Rao Madiraju, Shivakiran, Sarath and Vrinda will display their best work. For Sachin, photography has been a tool to express his artistic instincts. He claims to be on a continuous, never-ending journey of learning. He has been experimenting with street photography for a while now, and it has helped him learn and visualise emotional behaviour. For Lokeshwar Rao, photography is a doorway which provides unlimited possibilities to look at things which are usually missed. He is a painter and philatelist too. He recently won the Bronze in the Inpex17 National Philatelic Exhibition. The show has some stunning captures of nature through different perspectives.

A different stroke
The third show at Venkatappa Art Gallery is a unique one. Ashish Patel, with his first solo in the city, has been under the tutelage of Michael John Angel under whom he continued to study at The Angel Academy of Art in Florence, Italy. His current work focuses on Silent Conversations as ‘Some questions can only be answered in silence’. Immersion gives birth to these thoughts, tilling and ploughing the subconscious mind and bringing a sense of renewal. Underwater Journey allows one to reach into realms of spiritual, intellectual and emotional freedom. The show began at Venkatappa Art Gallery on 24 August.
