Kochi to host Publishingnext
KOCHI: The seventh edition of Publishingnext, the annual meeting of publishing professionals, will be held in Kochi from September 15-17. The event, being held for the first time in Kerala, will see publishing professionals from India and abroad participating in it. The conference is focused on issues of concern to book publishing industry — future of books and the way book are consumed by readers. The first day of the conference will consist of master classes, while the second and third day will have workshops, panel discussions and networking sessions.
"The event will not have any exhibition of trading activities," said Leonard Fernandes, a spokesman of Publishingnext. The master classes, a special feature of the seventh edition, is designed to introduce the basics of publishing to people who might be interested in understanding publishing, authors and others. The subjects that would be covered included publishing, good book design, mechanics of editing and understanding copy right and the rights of trade.
Panel discussions will cover book retailing, distribution, translation and market for books for competitive exams. Speakers scheduled to address the sessions included Mini Krishnan, Ritu Menon, Rohit Kumar, Samik Badyopathyay, Ses Seshadri, Leela Samson, Fabian Kern, Esha Beteille and several others.
