Guntur: Art@Andhra enthrals visitors
GUNTUR: The third annual art exhibition of Amaravati Art Society “Art@Andhra” began at the Boudha Sri Museum in Guntur on Wednesday. As many as 24 artists displayed their exhibits at the expo. AAS president K. Mrutyunjaya Rao said their society, with the cooperation of AP Creativity and Culture Commission, would continue to hold the art exhibition till Dec. 22.
AP planning board member P. Rama Rao inaugurated the art exhibition and asserted the need to create awareness about art among the students at an early age. He said that cultural renaissance is underway in AP and that such art expos would help rejuvenate it.
Acharya Nagarjuna University College of Architecture principal S. Janaki Rama Murthy said the university would introduce a course in fine arts. ANU guest professor S. Rahman said there was a need to conduct more such exhibitions to create an interest towards art among the people.
The bronze sculpture "the fish" of S. Appala Raju, "Pakshi" of T. Subhakar, "The Buddha" of K. Mrutyunjaya Rao, "Jeevana Chitra" of P. Srinivas, "fisherwoman" by Surya Rao, "mother and child" by Veeraiah, "fish" by Appala Naidu and other exhibits by Tamil Nadu artist Sankar, Kerala artist K. Lal were the major attractions at the art expo.
