Will run Akademi as per party's diktat: KPAC Lalitha
Thrissur: The Sangeetha Nataka Akademi will function as per the directions of the CPM, veteran actor KPAC Lalitha who took charge as its chairperson on Thursday, said. Speaking to reporters at the Akademi she minced no words in saying that she would strictly follow what the party wants her to do. "I wish to function in a democratic way and at the same time, I will not do anything the party did not want me to do… nothing at all. Everything will be according to party's direction," she said.
She said that the senior persons in the party knew what to do and she would work accordingly and would do whatever necessary to continue the legacy of greats like actor Bharath Murali, who during his tenure as its head, began the international drama fest in Thrissur. "Akademi will not have any politics, but definitely politics will be in the mind as each, and every one of us does have politics. I am here because of the party, and I will obey the party," she said adding that even though the party was in power, the government was functioning for the people at large.
Veteran artists Madhu, Kaviyoor Ponnamma, Padmashree Kalamandalam Kshemavathy, Lalitha's son actor-director Sidharth Bharathan, poet Ravunni, Jayaraj Warrier, dubbing artists Bhagyalakshmi and Anandavalli, actor Manju Pillai were among those reached the Akademi to congratulate her.
