There are few traditions that perfectly encapsulate the beautiful bond between brothers and sisters the way Raksha bandhan does. It’s that time of the year when sisters tie the ceremonial thread, also known as rakhi, around their brothers’ wrists and in return the brothers, promise to protect and take care of them. Although you’ll probably see markets now filled with the fanciest rakhis, you can always make a special one yourself for the occasion.
Don’t worry; a DIY rakhi will hardly take ten minutes of your time. The things you will need are a few thick threads, gota pattis, some pretty beads and a pair of scissors. You can even use cartoon-character stickers in case your brother is fond of them.
