IKEA displays replica of a Syrian home inside flagship store

The price tags' attached to the different house objects actually give out information about the disastrous situation in Syria.

The on-going civil war in Syria has ravaged the country almost beyond repair and caused the biggest refugee crisis in recent times. With different types of news and entertainment vying for attention, it can be easier for those living in peaceful areas to forget about the devastation faced by millions of people in some faraway corner of the planet. That’s why popular furniture brand IKEA decided to build a replica of the average Syrian home in its flagship store to raise awareness.

The broken-down home installation tells the story of Rana. She has to live in a small apartment constructed out concrete blocks that she shares with her family of nine. The ‘price tags’ attached to the different house objects actually give out information about the disastrous humanitarian situation in Syria.

In just two weeks that the display was up, over 80,000 people visited it. The campaign was successfully able to raise 22 million Euros for the Red Cross in Syria, according to AdFreak.
