Bengaluru International Film Festival sees surge in women filmmakers

This time, it saw a large number of women audience and apparently 30% of the 200 films screened were directed by women film makers.

BENGALURU: With the week-long 9th edition of Bengaluru International Film Fest coming to an end, and the focus shifting to Mysuru for the conclusion, the fest has so far witnessed at least 6,000 delegates.

This time, it saw a large number of women audience and apparently 30% of the 200 films screened were directed by women film makers.

"After we finalised the scheduled for this year's fest, I learnt while going through the list and I was pleasantly surprised to see bigger representation of women. It is a great sign for the fest and as well as for world of cinema," said Mr N. Vidyashankar, Artistic Director, BIFFes.

Movies recommended for today: The Children of the Mountain; A Conspiracy of Faith; A Man Called Ove; Graduation; Heartstone. Film lovers can watch Amarashilpi Jakanachari and Mysuru Mallige. Governor Vajubhai Vala will present the awards on Thursday in Mysuru.
