NSD-Rangayana theatre fest in Mysuru from Monday
Mysuru: Bahuroopi, the national theatre fest organised by Rangayana, had created waves among theatre lovers here and now, another theatre feast awaits Mysureans.
The National School of Drama, in association with Rangayana and the department of Kannada and culture, is hosting a week-long parallel theatre festival as part of its “Bharath Rang Mahotsav,” International theatre festival of India, at Rangayana from February 11.
Seven plays, including three international ones from Italy, Sri Lanka and Nepal, and four plays from other states will be staged during the fest at Kalamandir every day at 6.30 pm. On February 11, Kalam theatre and repertory from Thiruvananthapuram will stage a Malayalam play Mahasangaram. On February 12, BA, a cultural organisation from Guwahati, will stage the Assamese play Swapnavasavadutta.
On February 13, Instabili Vaganti group from Italy, will stage a multilingual (English, Italian, Spanish) play Desparecidos#43.
On February 14, Akshara Arts Society from Patna will stage Hindi play Aur Ant Mein Prarthana’. On February 15, Actors’ studio group from Nepal will stage a Nepali play, Charaharuko Sammelan.
On February 16, Ashoknagar Pratibimbo group will stage a Bengali play, Mrittyusongbad. On February 17, the Centre stage productions group from Sri Lanka will stage English play Stormy Weather.
As part of the fest, there will be seminars for three days from February 12 in which noted theatre personalities Tripurari Sharma, Reeta Ganguli and B Jayashree will participate. Also, there will be an interaction with directors after each play.
The National School of Drama is now hosting the International theatre festival of India, the 20th Bharath Rang Mahotsav from February 1 to 21 at its premises in New Delhi.
