Taking printmaking art to public
KOZHIKODE: The second edition of ‘Conglomeration’, a coming together of all styles of art, from prominent artists in India and abroad will conclude in the city today. This exhibition of nearly 200 pieces of artwork comes after their successful launch in Kochi in September 2016, said coordinator Sunil Lal. The exhibition is aimed at spreading the technology of printmaking of the original artworks, carrying the number of editions on the work itself.
“The technology used behind each print should be taken to the public too. At the moment, it is popular only in fine arts colleges. Wood cut, lithograph using limestone, dry point using aluminium, acrylic and copper sheets. Silk screen is being used in seriography,” said Mr Sunil Lal. The works of Indian artists Anupam Sud, Krishna Reddy, Anand Nikam, Jyoti Bhat and PD Dhumal are placed along with international painters like Magdalina Uchman from Poland, Elisebata Daimanti from Italy and Fei In Leong from China. There are no connections between their style of painting and the themes used, and that alone makes the exhibition special, as the title suggests, said Mr Sunil Lal.
