Bengaluru International Film Festival to enthrall audiences from February 22

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Govindu said the festival will begin on February 22 and conclude on March 1.

BENGALURU: In order to ensure that actors from tinsel town and artistes from various federations take part in large numbers at the 10th Bengaluru International Film Festival (Biffes), a holiday has been announced on the inaugural and concluding days of the festival, said Sa. Ra. Govindu, president of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Govindu said the festival will begin on February 22 and conclude on March 1. He has given instructions to keep away from shooting related activities on February 22 and March 1.

Over 800 films are likely to be screened. Over 3,000 applications have been submitted evincing interest to screen movies during the fest.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will lay foundation stone for the proposed film city during the second or third week of February on the Mysuru-Nanjanagudu road.

The time the state government has increase the financial assistance for the 10 th Biffes to Rs 10 crore, from Rs 8 crore earlier, and the film industry has been requested to make optimal use of it, Govindu added.

Around 400 movies from Europe, 300 from Russia, 45 from US and five from Australia are likely to be screened during the fest to enthrall the audience.
