Rajinikanth's 'Kabali' sold for a whopping Rs 8.5 crore in the US

Superstar fans had recently organised a massive welfare event ‘Malarattum Manithaneyam’ where producer S Thanu revealed that his production venture Kabali, in which Rajinikanth plays an aged don, has been sold for a whopping Rs 8.5 crore in the US, a price which is unheard for a south Indian movie. The prolific producer says that he is well aware that the Income Tax department will start probing once they hear of huge figures, and adds, “But I wanted to prove a point that Rajinikanth sir still commands a huge market in overseas territories.”

Kabali is directed by Ranjith and has Dhanshika playing the crucial character of his daughter and Radhika Apte as his wife. Shot for the most part in Malaysia, close sources say that Thanu is planning to hold the audio launch in the island nation.
