Director Pandiraj says he 'can't afford' Sivakarthikeyan

Sivakarthikeyan has become pricey of late.

Flushed with the success of back-to-back films, Pasanga 2 and Kathakali, director Pandiraj is on a high. However, him revealing that Sivakarthikeyan has become pricey of late, has stirred controversy. It was Pandiraj who introduced the then VJ Sivakarthikeyan in his film Marina and yet again in his production and directorial venture Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga, which catapulted the actor to great heights.

Apparently, Pandi has two-film agreements with Sivakarthikeyan — when quizzed about when we can expect the duo to come together, the National Award-winner said in a cynical tone, “My banner Pasanga Production has to grow to a certain level to pay what Sivakarthikeyan demands these days! It is such a huge sum that my company cannot afford to pay his remuneration now”.

Talking about his long pending Simbu-Nayanthara starrer Idhu Namma Aalu, which has one more song to be shot, he vouches that it would hit the screens during February end or March beginning. Reacting to a query on whether it was a ‘Beep-song’, he said on a lighter note, “The peppy number which starts with ‘I am Waiting’ has nothing to do with ‘Beep song’ and of course this is better than the former.”

We hear that Nayan was refusing dates for the song shoot... “Oh no! I wont blame her at all. On earlier two occasions when she gave dates, we could not use them for various reasons. Now when we want, Nayan cannot immediately comply because of her prior commitments,” he added.

But the good news he shared was that he would bring in the Maya star (who normally shuns away from promoting her own films) for the promotions of INA. “When I wanted Simbu and Nayan as the lead pair for INA, a lot of people challenged that notion, saying it was next to impossible, as both of them won’t come together on screen. But, I made it possible! So, I am confident that if I invite Nayanthara for the publicity of Idhu Namma Aalu, she will oblige,” he says.
