Kolam Adivasis oppose shifting PVTG College out of Hyderabad
ADILABAD: Leaders of Adima Girijan Kolam Seva Sangham on Saturday alleged that a few political leaders and lambada community leaders were trying to shift a PVTG College out of Hyderabad.
Addressing mediapersons, the Kolam Adivasi leaders said that the move would adversely affect Kolams, Konda Reddlu, Chenchu, and Thoti tribes, which are considered particularly vulnerable tribal groups (PVTG).
These tribes lag behind others in education, employment, and development, they said.
They appealed to the state government to retain the college in Hyderabad, as visiting the state capital was good exposure for members of the tribes.
The tribal groups also gave a call for a dharna in front of ITDA in Utnoor.
Kumram Raju, the district general secretary of the Adima Girijana Kolam Seva Sangham and Kumram Suru Yuva Sena’s erstwhile Adilabad district president, and senior leader Tekan Bheem Rao took part in the press meet.
