VIJAYAWADA: RGUKT Nuzvid is topping in placements with 26 MME students already getting placed in Integrated Steel plant - SRIBIR (Jharkhand) this year. This is seen as a welcome development for meritorious students from rural areas.
It should be noted that metallurgy and materials engineering (MME) is one of the core engineering branches in RGUKT –Nuzvid and one which enjoys huge patronage.
Prof. G.V.R. Srinivasa Rao, director of the institute, said that 26 of 57 MME students had secured pre-placement in SRIBIR, which was a noteworthy achievement. He explained that during the initial six-month training period they will get a monthly stipend of Rs 15,000. On the completion of the graduation training period, they will get placed with an approximate annual package of Rs 3 lakh.
He welcomed the decision of the Union government to double its crude steel output in the upcoming 10 years. This will open up several opportunities for metallurgical engineering graduates, Prof. Rao said.
Prof Srinivasa Rao said that some of the students were recruited in IT companies like TCS, Foray Software Pvt Ltd and others. He further said that apart from the placements, MME students had secured top ranks in GATE exams without any separate coaching. This reflects the qualitative teaching standards of the college faculty, he said.
The institute's administrative officer P Pradeep and faculty of MME department congratulated all the students on the occasion.
