V&E conducts surprise checks in 54 hostels
Vijayawada: The AP Vigilance and Enforcement department officials conducted surprise inspections across the state on BC, Social Welfare and Tribal Welfare Hostels and found violations of norms.
The V&E officials said that during inspection, 54 hostels in 26 districts were inspected. They said that variation in some cases between the attendance marked in the registers and physical attendance of boarders in the hostels. They further said that improvement was needed in the condition of some hostel buildings and infrastructure facilities.
The V&E officials stated that further improvement was needed in food supply as it was not being served as per the menu.
They also verified the essential commodities available with the entries made in the stock registers in some hostels and all the other registers maintained by the hostel welfare officers and the supply of notebooks, clothing/uniforms, bedding materials, plates, glasses, trunk boxes, carpets, etc.
The V&E officials said that the department has recommended actions against the officers concerned for the lapses, wherever noted and a report would be submitted accordingly.
