Governor presents gold medals to VSU students

Harichandan presented gold medals to 26 students, degrees to 252 students and Ph. Ds to six students

NELLORE: Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan has advised students to maintain good character all through their lives.

Addressing a large gathering of students at the 6th and 7th Convocation of Vikrama Simhapuri University on Tuesday, the Governor said: “The degree you receive today gives you confidence to aim high and achieve something more worthwhile. You are the torch-bearers and role model for younger generation.”

Harichandan presented gold medals to 26 students, degrees to 252 students and Ph. Ds to six students. He bestowed honorary doctorate on Sri City managing director Ravindra Sannareddy in recognition of his contributions to the field of technology and industry, as well as his vision and unrelenting efforts towards transforming the backward Satyavedu, Varadaiahpalem and Tada mandals into a vibrant industrial zone.

Quoting Nelson Mandela, the Governor underlined that education is the most potent weapon to change society. He urged graduating students to be sympathetic towards impoverished and disadvantaged, treating them with care and understanding.

University vice chancellor Prof. Sundaravalli presented a report on academic achievements of the university. Prof D.N. Reddy, chancellor, Mallareddy University, Hyderabad, delivered the keynote address.

Community Development Board chairman Nedurumalli Ramkumar Reddy, ZP chairman Anam Arunamma, Nellore district collector K.V.N. Chakradhar Babu, joint collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad and SP Ch. Vijaya Babu were among those present.
