Indo-German Global Centre in Pulivendula soon
Vijayawada: An Indo-German Global Centre for Agro-Ecology Research and Learning will soon be set up at Pulivendula in Kadapa district.
Announcing this at a review meeting with officials on natural farming at Secretariat here on Wednesday, Chief Secretary Sameer Sharma said centre will turn out to be of immense help to farmers. It will improve their knowledge on natural farming. The research carried out will help them improve their output.
The CS announced that the centre will be set up as a joint venture with AP investing ₹ 48.50 crore and Germany ₹ 174.20 crore. Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will inaugurate the centre on June 5, coinciding with the World Environment Day.
Sameer Sharma said as small and marginal farmers are incurring debts following crop loss due to changes in climatic conditions, the centre will encourage them to take up community-managed natural farming. This will help them overcome all hardships.
The Chief Secretary stressed on integration of Rythu Bharosa Kendras, e-cropping and natural farming methods with the upcoming global centre for getting better results.
Rythu Sadhikara Samstha executive vice chairman and ex-officio special chief secretary T. Vijay Kumar said a government building has been identified at Pulivendula to set up the centre. He said they are making all efforts to implement community managed natural farming in the state and improve income of farmers.
