Khammam: The TS United Teachers Federation has said that that the extension of school holidays till January 30 by the government by citing the Covid-19 situation will cause a big loss to students. Federation district general secretary Parupalli Nageswara Rao demanded that the government take back its decision and reopen schools for physical classes.
“The academic year commenced from September 1, 2021, and even 50 per cent of the syllabus has not been completed so far. Online education is not available to many students and it did not go well in the past,” Nageswara Rao said.
He said there were occasions of students “going on the wrong path sometimes” with their smartphones. The United Nations itself had stated that the students all over the world were facing a loss to the extended holidays.
Nageswara Rao said that schools are not being run properly for two years and pointed out that lakhs of students were promoted without exams and their minimum ability could not be tested.
“Bars, clubs and other businesses and social activities are functioning normally. Why is the government closing schools in the name of the Coronavirus,” Nageswara Rao and added that parents were ready to send their kids to school.
