16 officers pass out as radar controllers
Hyderabad: Sixteen trainees completed the air traffic surveillance services (ATSS) course at the Air Force Academy (AFA), Dundigal, on Thursday. AFA Commandant, Air Marshal Sanjeev Kapoor, was the reviewing officer of their graduation ceremony at the Air Traffic Control Officers Training Establishment (ATCOTE).
Twelve Air Traffic Control Officers from the IAF, three from the Navy and one from the Kenya Air Force graduated as radar controllers at the end of their 12-week long course.Squadron Leader S,P, Pavithran was adjudged first in order of merit and best in practicals. Flight Lieutenant Jasleen Kaur Walia was adjudged best in theory.
Air Marshal Sanjeev Kapoor highlighted the importance of the role of radar controllers in mission accomplishment. He apprised the officers on the challenges ahead, and advised them to achieve professional excellence by remaining abreast with modern developments.
ATCOTE, a premier air traffic control training establishment, trains officers from the IAF, Army, Navy, Indian Coast Guard, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and those from friendly countries.
