US remains top destination for Indian students
HYDERABAD: The United States remains a top destination for international students, especially so for students from India.
Of the over 914,000 international students enrolled for the 2020-2021 academic year, those from India accounted for nearly 20 per cent of the strength with 167,582 students. The students came from over 200 nationalities despite Covid-19, according to the 2021 Open Doors Report.
Speaking at the release of the report on international student mobility, minister counselor for consular affairs Don Heflin said in New Delhi “despite the global pandemic, Indian students were able to apply for visas and travel to the United States. We issued over 62,000 student visas in summer alone, which was more than the earlier years."
