KAKINADA: The new government medical college being built at Rajamahendravaram in East Godavari district at a cost of Rs 470 crore would be operational from the 2023-24 academic year.
After receiving the guard of honour as part of the 75th Independence Day celebrations at Rajamahendravaram on Monday, BC Welfare minister SV Krishna said 150 medical seats will be available with the new college.
He said the state government’s ‘family physician’ programme is being implemented from Monday and doctors would visit homes. The YSRC government would give priority to education, health and welfare schemes, he said.
The minister said that to realise the dream of the poor to own a home, the state government was constructing 51,919 dwelling units at a cost of Rs 934.54 crore in this district. A sum of Rs 113 crore was sanctioned to develop 322km of roads, out of which work on the 200km stretch has been completed.
He said that the resurvey of lands has been completed in 1.73 lakh acres across 77 villages. The resurvey would be completed in 5.49 lakh acres across 191 villages by September 2023.
The minister said a ‘women safety’ bus shelter would be set up in Rajamahendravaram on August 18. He presented appreciation certificates to 340 ‘best’ officers and employees drawn from several departments.
In West Godavari, the district in-charge and roads and buildings minister Dadisetty Ramalingeswara received the guard of honour from the uniformed men after unfurling the National Flag. He said the work was in progress for construction of a medical college in Palakollu at a cost of Rs 500 crore. “For the first time in India, the Covid-19 medical services have been taken under ArogyaSri scheme in West Godavari,” he said.
In Kakinada district, the incharge minister Appala Raju unfurled the National Flag at the police parade grounds. He said two aqua labs for water and soil analysis, as also the microbiology and PCR services would start at Vakalapudi and Pithapuram. He said the fish-landing centres are being set up at a cost of Rs 1 crore under the Marine Infra Project. Two more such centres would be set up at cost of Rs 2 crore at Konapapapeta and Uppalanka villages.
The minister said a shipping harbour with advanced technology is being built at Aminabad near Uppada at a cost of Rs 360 crore.
He presented appreciation certificates to 340 personnel from various departments in the district, marking the Independence Day.
Transport minister Pinepe Viswaroop unfurled the National Flag at Eluru and called upon the youth to take inspiration from the sacrifices of freedom fighters.
