Over 8.8k students graduate from BITS Pilani

Of them, 1,057 students received their first degrees, 289 received their higher degrees and 72 received their PhD

Hyderabad: A total of 8,847 students from the 2022 batch received their degrees at the convocation of the Hyderabad campus of BITS-Pilani on Sunday.

Of them, 1,057 students received their first degrees, 289 received their higher degrees and 72 received their PhD. Apart from this, 7,429 candidates were awarded degrees for completing the work-integrated learning programmes (WILP) for working professionals.

Dr Srivari Chandrasekhar, secretary, Union department of science and technology, chief guest at the event, said India’s capacity for inclusive and frugal innovation had also been recognised globally. The youth need to position themselves for achieving greater heights since the opportunities are plenty, he added.

Chancellor of the institute Dr Kumar Mangalam Birla, speaking at the event, shared life stories of Padma awardees like Tulsi Gowda, Harekala Hajabba and Chultim Chonjor. He said small changes could lead to big impacts and urged the graduating students to seize the opportunities they get.
