New junior colleges to come up in six mandals in Kadapa

It was originally intended to upgrade high schools with more than five hundred students to junior colleges

Kadapa: The education department is preparing to start offering Intermediate courses in government high schools in six mandals where there are no junior colleges. The move comes as part of the government's decision to make education fully accessible to rural students.

Six mandals in the district have been found without any junior colleges, which has compelled students to enroll in junior colleges in adjoining mandals. Apart from that, the district education authorities are taking steps to have junior Inter-level classes in every mandal.

According to the office of regional inspector of Intermediate education, the mandals without junior colleges include Atluru, Chapadu, Chinthakommadinne, Chennur, Siddavatam and Galiveedu. The DEO has been asked to identify schools that would be suitable for conducting junior intermediate classes. The DEO has directed the respective mandal education officers to furnish the relevant details so that this could take-off from this academic year.

It was originally intended to upgrade high schools with more than five hundred students to junior colleges. However, the move was shelved because of poor student-strength.
