Unemployed Youth with science background enrolled for third wave combat operations
Nellore: Apart from holding training progrmmes for doctors and paramedical staff to treat children during the likely third wave of Covid-19, the health authorities have devised a training session for educated unemployed youths to involve them as stand-by support in such a critical situation.
Unemployed youths with science background such as bi-PC in intermediate or degree are being picked for skill development training in ways as to use them as anesthesia assistants.
Alongside, ITI students and intermediate students who got exposure to both practical and theoretical training are also being picked for training on handling patients in hospitals in the event of an acute shortage of manpower.
Nellore collector Chakradhar Babu said field-level staff are identifying youths with such aptitude to work on a war footing for industries as well. Training sessions were completed for 600 such youths after obtaining details of skilled manpower requirements for the units in various parts of SPSR Nellore district.
“Our aim is to provide skilled manpower that is tailor-made to the requirements of industries coming up in the district,” the collector said and pointed out that Nellore is an important nodal point for both Chennai-Bangalore and Visakapatnam-Chennai industrial corridors.
The assistance of industries is also being taken to impart job-oriented skills to the unemployed. “We are also offering awards to the best trainers,” Chakradhar Babu stated.
Referring to a survey in progress to identify unemployed youths suitable to work in hospitals in view of the Covid’s likely third wave, he said the project director of the district rural development authority (DRDA) and chief executive officer of SETNEL (self-employment and training, Nellore) have been closely monitoring the survey.
