OC body seeks implementation of 10% quota in jobs, education
Karimnagar: When the state government was claiming that welfare of all sections of people was its main target, then why is it neglecting the weaker sections belonging to the OC category, asked Poladi Rama Rao, president of the ‘OC Social Welfare Federation’(OC-SWF), here on Friday.
Speaking to the media at Press Bhavan in Karimnagar, Rama Rao said the Centre had allotted 10 per cent of reservations for people from the economically weaker sections belonging to the OC category in education and employment. The state government had released GO No. 33 on February 8, 2021, and directed the heads of all departments to implement this quota. But there was no sign of implementation of the GO in any department, he alleged.
Recently, the education department issued notification for the admission into 36 junior colleges and for admissions of 5th class students into general gurukul residential schools. But there was no option for EWS reservations, he said. When the issue was taken to the notice of ministers and officials, there was no response from them.
The OC-SWF filed a petition in the High Court under OC-JAC. After hearing the appeal, the High Court on June 18 issued orders to the authorities to implement the quota, he said. When the officials neglected the High Court orders and did not implement the reservations, the High Court issued contempt orders to the officials on June 29, he added.
Rama Rao said for to protest the government’s negligence on the matter, the OC-SWF would going to stage a protest in the district, revenue division and mandal headquarters. If the government behaved stubbornly, then the agitation would be intensified like that of Telangana agitation.
Later, representatives of the OC-SWF submitted a representation to B. Vinod Kumar, vice-chairman of the TState Planning Commission.
The representatives of the OC-SWF P. Keshava Reddy, Ch. Purushotham Rao, U. Radha Krishna Reddy, Dr. Deepak Rubu, G. Swamy Reddy, N. Kondal Reddy, M. Sadava Reddy, M. Pulla Reddy, G. Ravinder Rao, P. Sanjeev Reddy and J. Anjaiah were among those who were present along with others.
