IT Raids at Dil Raju's House, Mythri Movie Makers Office

Dil Raju's House, Mythri Movie Markers Office, Pushpa Producer's Residence raided

Hyderabad: The Income Tax (IT) Department launched a series of raids on Tuesday morning at the offices and residences of several prominent Telugu film producers, including Dil Raju and Mythri Movie Makers. The raids, reportedly involving 55 officials, are being conducted simultaneously at eight locations, creating a ripple of tension within the Telugu film industry.

The IT officials searched Dil Raju’s residences in Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills, as well as the homes of his brother Sirish and daughter Hansitha Reddy. Dil Raju, a leading producer in the industry, has delivered blockbuster hits, including the recent Sankranti release Sankranthiki Vasthunnam, which has reportedly garnered over ₹100 crore in revenue.

Mythri Movie Makers, known for their record-breaking hit Pushpa: The Rule, and its producer Erneni, also came under the scanner. The production house reportedly achieved collections exceeding ₹1,000 crore with their recent release, drawing significant attention from authorities.

The raids extended to other key players in the industry, including the properties of producer Abhishek Agarwal, known for films like The Kashmir Files and Tiger Nageswara Rao. Additionally, the IT department reportedly searched the offices of Mango Media, a prominent distributor in the Telugu film circuit.

Sources within the industry speculate that the increasing trend of publicizing exaggerated box office collections might have drawn the attention of government agencies. “Producers should exercise caution when announcing inflated revenue figures as part of marketing strategies. Such claims can attract scrutiny from tax authorities,” noted an industry insider.

Explaining the nuances of box office collections, the insider added, “Gross collections are often misunderstood. For instance, if a film earns ₹100 crore gross, the net collection after deducting expenses like rent and commissions could be as low as ₹55 crore, with only ₹40–45 crore ultimately reaching the distributor.”

Dil Raju, who recently faced mixed fortunes with the failure of Game Changer and the success of Sankranthiki Vasthunnam, is now under intense scrutiny, raising concerns among producers about the implications of the ongoing raids.
