It is estimated that the project would cost Rs 500 crore. For this, the RTC would allocate its land, the central government's National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) would invest some funds and a chosen private contract organization would invest the remaining amount.
At present, Tirupati bus station is spread in 13.18 acres and the new bus terminal would be built in 12.19 acres. The new bus terminal will have roads on all the four sides while the existing terminal has roads only on three sides.
The cellar will have two storeys where bikes and cars would be parked.
The bus station in the ground floor will have 98 platforms, additional space to facilitate parking 50 buses, apart from space to charge electric buses.
Some space in the first and second floors would be allocated for the RTC offices while the remaining floors will be allotted to food courts and other commercial establishments.
The third floor would be completely allocated for RTC services. The power control room and CC camera control room would be established in this floor.
From the fourth to the seventh floor, space would be allocated for hotels, restaurants, dormitories and other commercial establishments.
In the eighth and ninth floors, commercial banks, other government and private offices would be established.
A helipad would be built on the 10th floor. In total, the structure will have 1.54 lakh square feet built-up area.
During the construction period, the existing bus station's traffic would be diverted to Mangalam depot, TTD land near Alipiri and on the Tiruchanoor approach road.
The bus terminal would be designed by the Rail India Technical and Economic Services Limited (RITES) and it's entrance would look similar to Lord Balaji's shrine.
It has also been proposed that a skywalk should be constructed from the railway station to the bus station.
