Driveclub gets hardcore!

A new mode in the game will be available as a part of a free update next month

PlayStation 4 exclusive racing game Driveclub will soon be getting a new Hardcore mode by February. This announcement comes from the Twitter account of the director of the game, Paul Rustchynsky, who also posted a short test video of hardcore mode with a Ferrari FXX K. Available in both single-player and multiplayer.

It seems the Hardcore gameplay option disables traction control, stability control and all other driving assists present in the current game. He went on to confirm that at the time of release, leaderboards will not be activated for this game mode, though I assume it will arrive sometime down the line. Motorcycles will also not be available under this option.

Hardcore mode will be available as a part of a free update next month, adding to the already astounding support developer Evolution Studios has been giving to this game. Developed by Evolution Studios, Driveclub was delayed by almost a year from its initial launch and servers were broken for over a month after release.

The reception was lukewarm at best but due to the continued support with both free and paid DLCs, the incredible weather update and the recently released Driveclub Bikes expansion which adds motorcycles to the game; critics and consumers are beginning to respond more positively to the game.

While it won’t probably reach the level of appreciation and the standard set by racing juggernauts such as Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo, for a title that was generally considered to be a misstep on the studio’s portfolio, Evolution Studios seem to have turned things around in a remarkable fashion.
