Starting company to be easy in Tamil Nadu

Web portal to help investors avoid red tape.

Chennai: An applicant who wants to start a company in Tamil Nadu will no longer find himself trapped in bureaucratic red tape. The state industries department is preparing the first-of-its-kind investor friendly online portal, where the applicant after submitting the forms will be given a password and can trace his application file.

In case the papers are stuck with government departments, the software will indicate which department / official has put the proposal on hold and will also give the details for the file being on put on hold.

All the data will be online and can be accessed by applicants and bureaucrats of eight government departments, an informed official told DC.

The process has completed the preliminary phase and now has to be integrated with other government departments like pollution control board, Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation, fire service, industries, land and revenue administration.

All the necessary approvals and no objection certificates will be cleared through the portal and ensure transparency at a different level, the official said.

Any transparent move by the state will bring in more investments to the city, said human resource consultant V. Balaji of Skylark HR Solutions and it’s a good initiative to make official data online. The state through its industries department can also think about provision of soft loans or minimal compensation for existing companies that have lost their machineries in last month floods, he said pointing out that Chennai floods have completely devastated automobile industry and tiny engineering sectors in Guindy and Ambattur estates.

Meanwhile the industries department which proposed to develop an integrated aerospace ecosystem near Sriperumbudur last April had also conducted its first level meeting with stock holders and suggestions are being added to the state policy note.
