IPS officer in dowry case gets posting

Woman to move court against CAT order.

Chennai: R.V. Varun Kumar, the IPS officer, who was arrested in connection with alleged demand for dowry from his one time girlfriend, was posted as assistant superintendent of police of Tamil Nadu commando force, Chennai on Wednesday by the home department.

Police sources said that government has given him the posting after Central Administrative Tribunal set aside his suspension and also stayed trial of his case.

He allegedly dumped his girlfriend when she refused to meet his dowry demand and married a woman IPS officer.

However, his victim, Priyadarshini, when contacted, told this newspaper she would approach Madras high court to challenge the CAT order.

“The investigation officer never bothered to inform us about the development on the case.

“Only after coming to know the status of the case recently, we decided to challenge the CAT order and also to approach the court against the stay on the trial of the case,” said Priyadarshini, now married to a lawyer.

“Just because I am married, I am not going to leave the case. I want to take the case to its logical end. I will challenge the CAT order and also I want to know why the trial has been stopped and why the investigation officer never bothered to inform me,” she told this newspaper.
