Ibis hotels to make unique offer

Anyone can book a room at the hotel on the web in the offer' month, stay and then Pay what you wantâ€.

Chennai: The city’s newest hotel is coming up with a unique campaign. Anyone can book a room at the hotel on the web in the ‘offer’ month, stay and then “Pay what you want”.

The Ibis Chennai City Centre hotel, situated bang on Anna Salai (where Anand theatre used to be), which is a joint venture between the InterGlobe hotels group and the French hotel giant chain Accor, is up to the challenge of allowing the boarders to estimate what their stay is worth and pay only that much.

Detailing the unique scheme at the brand new property Wednesday, Jean-Michel Casse, senior VP, AccorHotels India, said the chain was happy with the response to the introductory offer at their other properties and they are offering the same to Chennaiites to experience the ‘value for money’ that the Accor offers in 3,800 hotels across 92 countries.

The Ibis City Centre is the group’s second hotel in Chennai after their hotel in SIPCOT on OMR. The group is also to open a hotel in Coimbatore shortly.

Tracing the group’s history and foray into the hotel segment, Mr J.B. Singh, President & CEO, InterGlobe hotels says the commitment to investment in the country is Rs 2,000 crore. Having started as a GSA for airlines and with Indigo airlines being a prominent member of the group now, InterGlobe hotels are in the hospitality business for the long run, with 11 hotels in operation and another 5 being in the pipeline.

The hotel’s GM, Rajesh Gopalakrishnan, spelt out some unique features of the 185-room property like the ‘Sweet Bed” promising quality sleep to guests in a soundproof smart room (17.86 sq m) environment and a breakfast spread running from 4 am to noon for travelers with flights to catch.

With its smart pricing and its location advantage, the latest hotel in the Ibis chain might easily match Ibis and Accor’s occupancy rates.
