The Atal Setu Bridge - India’s 3rd longest cable-stayed bridge, which has become Goa’s most Instagrammed landmark was lit up to mark the auspicious festival of Navratri. FPA, a homegrown Goan company illuminated the Atal Setu with the 9 colours associated with the avatars of Goddess Durga. The bridge came to life every evening over 9 nights with a symphony of themed illuminations, which enhanced the skyline of the riverside.
Meet Anurag and Anirudha Walawalkar, the dynamic duo behind the illumination of this iconic bridge. Anurag is a leading Heritage Lighting Expert in India and also specializes in Architectural Lighting, and Anirudha is an Engineer with an MBA. Together, they have transformed FPA (Fluid and Power Automations) - the family business offering electrical contracting services - into a recognized brand that provides a full spectrum of comprehensive lighting solutions.
Their vision of the bridge now stands as a defining monument in the state and the country. The brain behind the brilliant creative illumination of the bridge, Anurag says “Conceptualizing the Illumination of the Atal Setu enabled us to push the boundaries of technology and innovation. Blending the country’s diverse facets into creative concepts was an enlightening process. Recently in August, we lit the Atal Setu for Independence day with the colours of the Indian flag.”
Anirudha, who has spearheaded several electrical engineering projects of bridges amongst other projects has this to say “Due to the pandemic we have now changed the way we celebrate festivals. To keep the spirit of the festival alive, we decided to celebrate Navratri by lighting the bridge every evening with the 9 theme colours. In the past, we have illuminated the bridge on special occasions, and we will continue to do so with innovative colour combinations in the future.”
