Zakir Naik Extradition News Fake, Check Facts

Was Indian fugitive Zakir Naik really arrested? Has the Malaysian government agree for his extradition to India? If you are trying to verify this news piece which has gone viral in no time, thanks to the massive social media circulation, then we have done it for you.

A video bearing the logo of ABP news with a duration of 2.20 minutes has created storm on social media, leading to widespread speculation over the veracity of this news and facts.

So is Zakir Naik Extradition news truth or fake?

Let's find out the origin of this video and how this news got amplified. As per the video in circulation, Islamic televangelist Zakir Naik will appear before the court after he lands in India tonight.

But the news is fake.

Fact Check:

The video has a superimposed Hindi caption which translates to "Big success for Modi government. Zakir Naik, who is famous for his hate speeches and wanted in several cases for encouraging terrorism, will be deported to India by the Malaysian government.”

First of all, the ABP logo is all wrong. This logo was used way back in 2020 by the channel after which ABP changed its logo. So the news itself is not anything that happened recently.

Also, the video also displays a facebook page logo, 'Phir Ek Bar Modi Sarkar' bearing the viral post put out on July 4, 2018.

So, how did ABP come into the picture? ABP had broadcast the news report on the same date, which they based on what they dubbed 'sources'. The video was uploaded on both Twitter and Facebook pages on July 4, 2018.

The news was broadcast after India sought the extradition of Zakir Naik from Malaysia, which the country declined.

Four days later on July 7, Zakir Naik posted a Facebook video slamming the Indian media for spreading misinformation, in which he named Times Now channel, Republic TV, NDTV, ABP News and newspapers.

Now, the old video claiming Zakir Naik's Extradition is back in circulation. And it's completely fake.
