How to hold an electric guitar?

Well, there are a variety of ways and determining factors about how you hold it. Be it any body posture, whether you are sitting or standing while playing it, or you are left-handed or right-handed, or you are beginner or a pro and so on, there are ways to hold it right. POSITIONING FOR LEFT HAND

How do you position your left hand on the guitar? It is very natural that your left hand might fall on the neck of an electric guitar. That’s very certain to happen!

 

Wrong positioning and stiffness might result in cramps and make it complicated for you to learn new skills. Your fist needs to be loose with the thumb lying between the first two fingers for nice positioning and better grip and gliding at the neck.

POSITIONING OF RIGHT HAND

The right hand is the one which is assisting you on the body of guitar. Firstly, you need to bring the guitar close to yourself and hold it at the neck with left hand and be ready to rock the show with the right.

Your right hand should be placed over the guitar near the strings, but be careful. In an electric guitar, there is a flow of current and so, your hand shouldn’t come in contact with the strings of guitar.

HOLDING OF GUITAR

 

The guitar can be held by you in a variety of ways. It's all up to you! Ever tried someway out of your mind?

You can hold it by the neck with your left hand and play with right hand. That's all about a balance that you can make and it is most suitable for experienced guitarists.

So, dear newbies, you can obviously try this but a bit later on. For now, all you need is to make things simpler, more comfortable and easier for yourself, just like sitting on a chair and placing the guitar on your lap.

When you sit on a chair straight and place the guitar on your lap, leaning the guitar upon yourself and the right and left hands as directed to be, that's the best to start with.

 

You needn't bother about the balancing of guitar as its stable lying on your lap. And as its stable lying by you, it's easier to focus only on playing it. While sitting, your posture too does matter. So, try sitting straight and holding it firm in place.

Make sure to hold it firm but in a relaxed way. Am i spunding repeatative? Well, I guess yes!  But, this is really the pivot to the success of your music. Don't go too hard that cramps come up and you get fatigued.

Well this was all about the electric guitar but there are some awesome acoustic guitars as well. Electric guitars are amazing for their sound feature. But if you have a great passion to learn and enhance your guitar skills then you must begin with an acoustic guitar. Acoustic guitars are hard to play compared to the electric guitar so it will refine your skills much better.
