Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies conducts 30th MBA Batch Inaugural Ceremony

Dr. Rajani R. Gupte, V-C, SIU, told students how the next 2 years will be full of hard work but will also open a plethora of opportunities

Embarking upon an MBA is a major milestone in the journey of any individual. Various premier B-Schools attempt to make this journey for their student’s value-imparting and wholesome. The MBA students are acquainted with the values, ethos, and alumni of the institutes to give them a glimpse of the culture and heritage they are going to adopt in the journey that lies ahead of them.

In the same pursuit, Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies, Pune also known as SIMS, Pune welcomed the 30th batch of students for their full-time MBA programme. The Chief Guest of the inaugural ceremony was Mr. Nakul Jain, MD and CEO of Paytm Payment Services Limited (PPSL), who is also an alumnus of SIMS, Pune.

SIMS, Pune works under the aegis of Symbiosis International (Deemed) University (SIU). The inaugural ceremony in the Khadki campus of the institute also witnessed the presence of the Pro-Chancellor (SIU) -Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar; Dr. Rajani R. Gupte, Vice-Chancellor (SIU); Brig. (Dr.) Rajiv Divekar, Director- SIMS, Dr. Pravin Kumar Bhoyar, Deputy Director along with the faculty, staff, and the student managers of batch 2022-24 of the full-time MBA programme at the institute.

After a brief break from offline orientation ceremonies due to the outbreak of Covid-19, the MBA batch of 2022-24 at SIMS, Pune was able to undergo the orientation process on campus, which began with the inaugural ceremony on 7th June 2022. Chief Guest Mr. Nakul Jain, while addressing the incoming batch said, "The SIMS DNA remains the same over time, the discipline, great communication skills, knowing how to work in ambiguity, and adaptability are the qualities that make SIMSites stand out in the corporate world".

He also talked about the 4 Cs that have helped him in his corporate journey being Courage, Competency, Compassion, and Consistency, while addressing the gathering at SIMS, Pune.

Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar, Pro-Chancellor, SIU said "SIMS is a beautiful example of a public-private partnership where the Defence Ministry has given this beautiful piece of land to Symbiosis for students from the defence background and it is incredible that 600 students and faculty members live in this 4-acre campus with such harmony without any complaints. This shows how defence kids are quick to adapt and this is the very quality that makes SIMSites stand out and succeed in the corporate world".

Dr. Rajani R. Gupte, Vice-Chancellor, SIU addressed the batch by highlighting how the next two years for them will be full of hard work but will also come with a plethora of opportunities. She further said, "Learning outside the classroom is just as important as learning inside the classroom, therefore, I urge the students to also focus on other outside-the-classroom activities along with their academics for the overall growth of their personalities and building of skill sets that they will need in the outside world".

At the inaugural ceremony, the Director of the institute, Brig. (Dr.) Rajiv Divekar said, "SIMS is the management education destination that will empower the students with requisite knowledge and skill sets required in the corporate world. The next two years of your life at SIMS shall define the next 40 years of your life".

The purpose of such orientation programmes is to train the students in a realistic corporate setting from day 1 of their induction. SIMS, Pune has been organising their widely known orientation programme each year. The 2 week-long programme is known for being a boot camp because of the rigor, discipline, and resilience being put to test.

The MBA students are introduced to the various teams and cells of the college and are given various tasks throughout the 2 weeks along with fitness sessions scheduled for a wholesome experience. The orientation programme is designed to give the students a glimpse of what is expected of them as future corporate leaders and is the first step towards their holistic development.
