On 4th June, 2021, Sandesh Motwani, an established Mumbai/Dubai-based artist with many mashup covers and a few Hindi originals under his belt, released his first ever English original track in collaboration with up and coming artist Oshin. Titled ‘Feel You’, the track makes a first impression that is here to stay.
This soundtrack is your perfect bedroom R&B jam or your go-to song for a romantic long drive with bae. The underlying theme of desire carried throughout the song intermingles with and teases at the possibility of something new, leaving the ending up to your imagination.
The track sounds like it was crafted with meticulous care and attention to detail. They bring a wide range of talents in the space of composition, songwriting, production, as well as the visual arts and fashion. However, their biggest strength remains common to them both in the form of their superb vocals.
Sandesh & Oshin’s vocals blend seamlessly, complimenting wherever necessary, and not overshadowing each other in the process. They work together to highlight the best in each other’s signature styles, with Sandesh’s soulful performance pairing beautifully with Oshin’s deep and husky voice.
The simple but beautifully intricate layering of instruments, and top notch production quality are a signature of Sandesh’s international production style. Within the song lies a careful mix of guitars, ep, strings and more. The drums support the melody with a beat that you can’t help but groove to. Sandesh also employs vocal layering and harmonies with a dexterity that adds a whole new layer to the song.
Oshin brings freshness to the sound with her melody and keeps you intrigued with lyrics that constantly sway between sexy & sweet. Her words interweave themselves with the sensual flow of the song’s rhythm. For instance, playful transitions "waking up to your sweet face, I’ve got a sugar rush now" parallels the transition of love into a more passionate feeling - something the song represents as a whole.
The pair have previously worked together on a mash-up cover of God Is A Woman &Rehna Tu, where we’ve seen their sensibilities coming together and blending in a balanced manner. Be it adding their own signature to Ariana’s popular track, or bringing to life the soulful nature of Rahman’s composition, this is where the pair clicked for the first time and in a way, where the journey of Feel You truly began.
You can feel that continuity in the way that Feel You gives you an amplified sense of the same aesthetic balance and a perfect blend of their individual styles. With the track available and soaring to new heights on all leading music streaming platforms, you should check it out now, if you haven’t already!
Also, rumour has it that the two are working on a couple of more originals, as well as their own highly promising individual projects, but we don’t have any details yet. Whatever it is, we’ll be looking forward to what they have in store for us...
