HYDERABAD: Despite light rain on Saturday evening, 22 participants at the nocturnal walk at Forest Trek Park, Manchirevula, on Saturday got a chance to see several species, including paddy field frogs, ornate narrow-mouthed frogs, bullfrogs, giant forest scorpions, a Nagarjunasagar racer snake, and two common kraits.
The event was organised by Deccan Woods & Trails, the eco-tourism brand of the Telangana Forest Development Corporation. Some participants had earlier joined a bird walk on Sunday. They were guided by naturalists Akhil, Suman and Aparanjani.
“If you’ve ever longed to walk beside the wild, listen to the forest breathe, and witness nature on its own terms, this is your call,” said L. Ranjith Nayak, executive director, Eco-Tourism.
Bird Walk participants reported sightings of the grey-bellied cuckoo, blue-faced Malkoha, oriental honey buzzards, shikra, lapwings, nightjars, and black-shouldered kites.
Similar programmes are expected to be organised in the future by the Telangana Forest Development Corporation across different forest parks and eco-tourism sites in the state.
