Oscar-winning actor credited his second wife Shakira Baksh with making him a reformed character and saving him from drinking himself to death
Oscar-winning actor Sir Michael Caine feels he would have drunk himself to death had it not been for his second wife Shakira Baksh.
In an interview, he disclosed that it was his wife, with whom he has a daughter Natasha, who calmed him down during his wandering ways. Talking about it, he went on to further reveal that he used to drink a bottle of vodka every day while smoking several packs of cigarettes.
Sir Michael was previously married to actress Patricia Haines, with whom he has a daughter Dominique. But he credits Lady Caine, with making him a reformed character.
“Without her, I would have been dead long ago,” he told Radio Times. “I would have probably drunk myself to death. I was a bit of a piss artiste when I was younger. I used to drink a bottle of vodka a day and was smoking too, several packs a day.”
