Contraceptive device that can control sperm with an on/off switch invented

The device features a valve that can be opened and closed via a switch.

There will soon be a new addition to the list of male contraceptive methods – an implanted device that could allow men to control their sperm flow with the flip of a switch.

The device, called the Bimek SLV, has been invented by a German carpenter named Clemens Bimek. It is “as small as a gummy bear” and features a valve that can be opened and closed via a switch that can be reached through the scrotum’s skin, according to its website.

When the valve is closed, it redirects the sperm cells by pushing them sideward, which stops them reaching the seminal fluid. So, this causes that man to become sterile upon ejaculation. What’s more, the device is 100 percent vegan.

Currently, the company is looking for volunteers to test the device. They are hoping that the final product will be out by 2018, according to the Huffington Post.
