Around 400 Hyderabad Youth Take ‘Nasha Mukt’ Oath, Pledge to Stay Drug-Free

The youth pledged not only to stay away from intoxicants themselves but also to protect their body, mind, intelligence, and consciousness, refusing to let addiction control their lives or exchange their freedom for temporary pleasure.
Hyderabad: As part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (Drug-Free India Campaign), around 400 young men and women gathered at Srila Prabhupada’s ISKCON, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, to take a powerful De-addiction Oath, reaffirming their commitment to leading a life free from addiction and inspiring others to do the same.
The oath was administered by His Grace Satya Gaura Chandra Prabhuji, President of Hare Krishna Movement Hyderabad and Regional President of The Akshaya Patra Foundation. Several social media influencers also joined the initiative, publicly taking the pledge and helping amplify the message of a healthy, addiction-free lifestyle among young people.
The pledge began by reminding participants of their spiritual identity and their responsibility to live a life of purity, strength, and purpose. The youth pledged not only to stay away from intoxicants themselves but also to protect their body, mind, intelligence, and consciousness, refusing to let addiction control their lives or exchange their freedom for temporary pleasure.
A significant aspect of the pledge was its emphasis on social responsibility. Participants resolved to make every possible effort to keep their homes free from addiction, encourage family members and friends to avoid intoxicants, and never support or promote addictive habits. Instead, they committed to becoming positive role models for others.
The pledge was centered around the principle that “Change Begins With Me.” From personal discipline, the commitment extended to families, communities, and society at large. The youth further resolved to contribute towards building an addiction-free city, state, and nation, while inspiring others to embrace the same values.
Speaking on the occasion, His Grace Satya Gaura Chandra Prabhuji emphasized that freedom from addiction is not merely about avoiding harmful substances, but about choosing a life of self-control, inner strength, purpose, and true freedom. He urged young people to become ambassadors of positive change and play an active role in creating a healthier and addiction-free society.
The organisers expressed hope that the commitments made under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan would continue beyond the event, inspiring young people to make conscious choices and contribute towards the vision of a stronger, healthier, and addiction-free India.
