Karimnagar: Datla Swathi, who had been allotted a seat at Pratima Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) here, staged a dharna in front of the college, on Monday to protest the alleged cancellation of her seat by the college. The college administration said the admission lapsed since Swathi did not report within the given date.

Datla Swathi of Gatla Narsingapoor in Bheemade-varapally mandal, further said that she has been seeking re-allotment of the seat for the past three months. Her mother Satya Veda has declared that she and her daughter would launch a hunger strike if Swathi is not permitted to attend classes at the college.

Swathi was allotted a seat at the PIMS by NTR Health University after she had secured 10,239 rank in Eamcet 2013. She paid Rs 69,500 to the university at the time of counselling, and Rs 15,000 towards stipend fee and caution deposit to the management of the PIMS.

“I was told to attend classes from October 1. After that, I was made to wait for six more days. To my horror, on October 7, I was asked her to leave the premises as my admission had been cancelled on the grounds of lack of attendance,” claimed Swathi. B. Ramachandran Rao, an administrative official at the college, claimed that Swathi’s admission was cancelled because she failed to submit her allotment order on September 22.
