- VR in shopping: Now comes the part that most commoners will be interested in. While people are familiar with the concept of online shopping, the integration of VR is also changing the way people view, select, and shop online. There are certain apps in the market which provide a virtual tour of the entire store. Utilising this, shoppers can select from a large range of products instead of looking at catalogues.
- VR in entertainment: While VR has already become a core aspect of modern day gaming, few people know that the virtual entertainment has reached new heights. With the inception of apps such as Oculus Cinema, users can enjoy an immersive movie experience; It allows them to watch any movie on a huge virtual screensomething like their own theatre or as if they were inside the movie itself.
- VR in tourism: Tourism is one industry where the use of technology only meant booking tickets and reserving hotels. But wait! VR is here to storm the tourism industry as well. According to a report on Livescience, Marriott's Travel Brilliantly app in collaboration with Oculus can virtually transport you to Hawaii in just 90 seconds. Although, its no where close to visiting the actual place, it is quite a good option for all the lazy folks out there.
- VR in sports: While VR has been predominantly used off the pitchâ€, now the technology will also be used to dictate terms on it. While VR has already made significant inroads in numerous forms of sports, now it will be used for training players, and will coaches to monitor training sessions and overall player performance. It is also being used in sports wear manufacturing processes. Other than that, VR is also helping push sporting events closer to the audience.
- VR in healthcare: Now doctors will be utilising the capabilities of virtual reality technology and headsets to conduct complex surgeries and operations. According to a report published on Wired, a surgeon, cancer specialist, and co-founder of VR firm Medical Realities, Dr Shafi Ahmed, is going to conduct a tumour removal operation on a London-based man in his 70's using VR technologies.
