She has a figure that most women would be immensely jealous of. Tall, svelte with a dusky complexion, Nicole Faria surely stands out in a crowd. Post winning the Miss Earth in 2010, she had been busy with her commitments and did a lot of work in the environmental field. Nicole has also graced the 2014 Kingfisher Swimsuit Calender.
Now the Bangalorean beauty is ready with her first Bollywood project, Yaariyan, a film that has been in news for being the launchpad of many young actors and director, Divya Khosla Kumar. The music of the film is already a big rage among GenY. Nicole plays the college hottie, Jiya, who literally has the boys eating out of her hands.
“My director, Divya, saw my videos of the Miss Earth pageant and my performances during the talent rounds. She really loved my confidence level and the way I carried myself. As a result, I was called for auditions in 2011 itself. Interestingly, initially I gave the auditions in English as Hindi was not my strong point. But eventually managed to deliver my lines in Hindi as well,” recollects Nicole.
She plays a character whom every boy desires and every girl wants to be like. She is a bold, confident girl, the wingman to all her guy friends and wants to make it big in life.
Talking about her tuning with her co-stars and director she adds, “We were a very young team. So it was a complete blast to work on the project. The camaraderie among the actors is quite evident in the film. As for the director, she was quite focused and knew exactly what she wanted from each of us.” She informs that the entire movie was shot on a handycam, scene to scene, during the workshops before actual shooting was carried out. “So we constantly had a reference point. Whenever we floundered, our director showed us the scene shot in the handycam,” she explains.
So post Yaariyan, what does she have in the anvil? “Since I have signed a contract that says I can’t sign a film before Yaariyan hits the screens, I am waiting for the film to release. I would love to explore all kind of roles and be a part of the industry. I would love to work with Salman Khan and Aamir Khan. Among the younger lot, I find Ranbir Kapoor terrific,” she confesses.
Finally we asked the inevitable question, how does she manage to have that awesome figure? “Although I had to gain weight for my role, I feel really nice to have a shapely figure. I am blessed with a high metabolic rate. Apart from that, I love dancing and resort to it, whenever I can,” she signs off.
