Sivaji to fast for aid to bus mishap victim kin

Tollywood actor Sivaji on Friday came out in support of families of Mahbubnagar bus tragedy victims.

Hyderabad: Tollywood actor Sivaji on Friday came out in support of families of Mahbubnagar bus tragedy victims and threatened to begin a fast-unto-death if appropriate compensation was not paid to the families by Sankranti.

The actor and families of the victims came down heavily on the government for ignoring their suffering. Speaking to reporters on Friday, Sivaji rubbished the government offer of Rs 1 lakh compensation saying the victims earned more than that every month.

“The government brings in new schemes every now and then with hundreds of crores of corpus fund but they can’t even pay compensation to these people because they are dead people and not vote banks anymore,” Sivaji said. “Even for party related work, politicians spend so much,” he added.

“I will undertake a fast-unto-death if the government doesn’t do anything for the families of those who died and if these people don’t spend their Sankranti peacefully,” he added.

Family members of the victims also lam-ented the lack of support from the government. G Sarala, whose son died in the accident, said he was going to get married in the next month but they are being forced to go around for compensation.
