The All-India Hindu Mahasabha held a cow urine party in New Delhi on Saturday to protect themselves from the new coronavirus. Members of the group performed fire rituals and drank from earthen cups to fight the Covid-19 virus.
The national president of the Akhil Bhartiya Hindu Mahasabha Swami Chakrapani Maharaj drinks up."We have gathered here and prayed for world peace and we will make an offering to the corona (virus) to calm it," said Chakrapani Maharaj before gulping down a cup. (AP)
Swami Chakrapani claimed the coronavirus is an avatar that has come to punish those who eat non-vegetarian food.
Asking for forgiveness from the virus on behalf of meat eaters, he pledged that Indians will never eat meat again.
"Coronavirus has come because of the people who kill and eat animals. When you kill an animal, it creates a sort of energy that causes destruction in that place. This is the reason why it is spreading in the entire world," Chakrapani Maharaj said, and made an offering to the devil virus to appease it.
People lined up for their share of the miracle liquid being poured from kettles into kulhads.
"All our leaders and officials consume 'gaumutra'. But they do so behind closed doors and when they are sick. It doesn't work like that," Chakrapani Maharaj said, insisting that cow urine should be consumed on a daily basis to keep diseases at bay.
"They (leaders) are ashamed of the gift gods have given us. Cow urine is pure elixir. Every person should drink it."
"Whoever drinks cow urine will be cured and protected," Hari Shankar Kumar, a volunteer at the event, said as he served the remedy in brown clay cups.
Members draped in saffron clothes chanted hymns at the fire ritual as devotees sang paeans to the sacred cow.
