The protests over the Cauvery issue led to a bandh like situation in the city with all commercial establishments rolling down their shutters.- The police believe that the situation will be under control on Tuesday as it is a public holiday.
- The police had to resort to firing, which led to the death of a 25-year-old man and left two others injured, while curfew was clamped in the jurisdiction of 16 police stations in West and North Bengaluru.
- Protests out by Kannada activists against attacks on Kannadigas in Tamil Nadu and the Supreme Court order to release Cauvery water to the neighbouring state took a violent turn with hundreds of people pouring out onto the streets and protesting.
- Even shops in localities like Chikpet, Upparpet, Avenue Road, Cottonpet, Majestic, KR Market and others in the heart of the city downed shutters.
- The situation was no different in other reputed malls. There was no screening of movies, including Kannada films after multiplexes and single screen cinemas stopped operations after the violence.
- Pro-Kannada outfits were seen targeting techies working in ITPL demanding that they close shop.

- A neighbouring shed owned by a Kannadiga was not touched, according to sources.
- It took two hours to put out the fire at the shed, which was finally doused by 9 pm.
- By the time the fire tenders arrived at 7pm all the sleeper, semi-sleeper, AC and Non-AC buses valued at over Rs 50 crore, were burnt.
- As many as 56 buses worth Rs 50 crore belonging to KPN Travels, from Salem, Tamil Nadu, went up in smoke as some 200 agitators barged into the company's bus shed in D'Souza Layout, Dwaraka Nagar, Banashankari and hurled petrol bombs on them on Monday.
