Amid unrest, Kashmiri separatists try to escape house arrest, held by police

Earlier another separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani too was arrested by police as he emerged of his house in a similar attempt.
Kashmir's chief Muslim cleric and separatist leader, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, scales the outer wall of his besieged residence in Srinagar's Nigeen area in an attempt to march on the City's Mazar-e-Shohda or martyrs' cemetery to pay home to the 1931 martyrs.- Separatist asked the government to put a stop on the killing spree of innocent and unarmed people of Kashmir during peaceful protests.
- The separatists had earlier called a three-day strike following the killing of the militant commander.
- Every year, separatists, including mainstream parties, observe July 13 as the death anniversary of 21 protestors killed by Dogra army outside Srinagar's Central Jail in 1931.
- One policeman has also lost his life and over 150 have been wounded in mob attacks.
- The Valley has been reeling under strict curfews and as many as 33 protesters have been killed and over 1,500 injured in shootings and other actions of security forces.
- Hardline Hurriyat Conference Chief Syed Geelani, who was under house arrest, was also detained by the police on the airport road outside his residence in uptown Hyderpora after he defied restrictions and tried to take out a march towards the Martyrs graveyard.
- All separatist leaders and prominent activists of various pro-azadi organizations were placed under house arrest or taken into 'preventive custody' by police soon after the killing of Burhan Muzaffar Wani by security forces on July 8.
- Farooq was, however, arrested by police as he jumped out and was quickly removed to a nearby police station.
