Starlet Sofia Hayat who had filed an FIR against her 'Bigg Boss 7' co-contestant Armaan Kohli for sexual assault, has taken to YouTube to share her story.
"To anybody saying that this is a publicity stunt, I want to say that it has been proven by the police that Armaan Kohli hit me.”
She also has a rather shocking comparison to make.
“A lot of fans have compared me to the Delhi gangrape victim. On December 16, 2012, she died as a result of a man committing an act of violence on a woman. On December 16, 2013, Armaan Kohli was arrested for hitting a woman. I don’t see that as any sort of coincidence. Maybe the universe is trying to tell us all something. That violence can happen in poor communities and amongst celebrities.”
She appeals to viewers to “take a stand on violence against women in India and boycott Armaan Kohli’s movies.” She says, “If we don’t buy tickets, he would be shamed because nobody would want to see him.”
“My father used to hit my mother. I’ve been in abusive relationships and if I had kept my mouth shut, it would’ve been like saying it’s okay. But it’s not okay,” she says adding, “If I die in a week or two, I would be far more happier knowing I made a stand on violence against women.”
