Fall hinders stage debut

Vishakha Singh, is out of action, unable to perform at her first ever stage show in Chennai.

Call it a cruel twist of fate, or just bad timing, but actress Vishakha Singh, who was to give her first ever stage performance in Chennai had to back out of it due to a nasty fall she suffered earlier last week. The 'Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiyaa' girl was supposed to be a part of the 20th anniversary celebrations of Raj TV and the show was supposed to be her stage debut. She was to perform the Hey Unnathan track from the film. However, during rehearsals for her upcoming Hindi flick, she suffered a fall, and ended up hurting her spine.

Talking to DC from Mumbai, Vishakha, who is currently recuperating, says, “This came at such a bad time for me. I was very excited to perform at the Raj TV anniversary celebrations. It was to be my stage debut, but because of my spinal injury, I had to back out.”

Ask her what exactly happened, and she says, “We were rehearsing our lines and enacting a few scenes from my upcoming Hindi flick. The scene involved me running and I happened to be wearing high heels. During the scene, I ran in my heels and slipped and fell. However, I wasn’t in much pain, and therefore did not pay much heed to it,” explains the actress, adding that things got worse only the next day. “The next day, I attended an event at Mumbai and once again I was in my heels. After that, my back began to hurt and the pain was unbearable. When I consulted a doctor, he told me that I had a spinal injury, and my spine was slightly bent, owing to the fall and the subsequent stress. I was lucky to have escaped a slipped disc,” she says thankfully.

Now, the vivacious actress has been advised to take it easy for a couple of days. “I cannot wear my beloved heels, let alone dance on stage. I am undergoing a strict course of treatment that involves a lot of physiotherapy,” she sighs. “However, I hope to be back in action soon,” she adds.

Talking about her upcoming projects she says, “In K’town I have to wrap up 'Vaaliba Raja' with Santhanam and Sethu. The film is by more or less the same team as KLTA.

Apart from that I am doing a couple of projects in Bollywood, which I cannot reveal much about at this point of time,” says the actress in parting.
