Quid pro-quo case: Jagan, BCCI chief Srinivasan appear before CBI court

Quid-pro-quo case: AP Minister Geetha Reddy and former ministers Sabitha Reddy skipped the proceedings.

Hyderabad: YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, BCCI chief and India Cements MD N Srinivasan besides other accused in the alleged quid-pro-quo investments case involving the Kadapa MP's firms, today appeared before a special CBI court here.

Jagan's financial advisor V. Vijay Sai Reddy, industrialist Nimmagadda Prasad, promoter of Penna Cement Industries P Prathap Reddy, chairman of Indu Group of Companies Shyamprasad Reddy and some IAS officers who have been named in the ten charge sheets in different aspects of the case also appeared before the court and marked their appearance.

Andhra Pradesh Minister for Major Industries J. Geetha Reddy, former ministers Sabitha Reddy, Dharmana Prasada Rao and Mopidevi Venkataramana Rao, also accused in the case did not appear before the court, though they were represented by their respective counsels who filed petitions.

To enable progress in different aspects of the case, CBI special Public Prosecutor K Surendra sought different dates for hearing while Jagan's counsel requested for giving a single date as his client (who is prime accused in all the charge sheets) will have to appear every time on different dates.

The court posted the matter to February 12.

The case pertains to alleged investments made by various private firms and individuals to the tune of several crores of rupees in Jagan's businesses, as part of quid-pro-quo arrangement for various favours bestowed on them during the tenure of his father late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh between 2004 and 2009.
